September 4, 2019CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Sophomore guard Wynston Tabbs will undergo surgery on his left knee on Tuesday, Sept. 17 and will miss the 2019-20 season.
“While I won’t be able to play this season, I know that it is a temporary setback and I will be back stronger than ever before,” Tabbs said. “I want to thank my family, the Boston College Basketball program, and all our fans for their continued support. I’ve overcome obstacles before in my life and will work tirelessly to overcome this one. I am built for this.”
Last season, Tabbs appeared in 15 games, earning 14 starts. He averaged 13.9 point, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. He was named the CBS Sports National Freshman of the Week and ACC Rookie of the Week in mid-December after putting forth a stat line of 28 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals vs. Sacred Heart. Since 1996-97, that single-game stat line has been accomplished by an ACC player only 12 times.
